Stuart’s career has been distinguished by ‘following the road least traveled’ for example, never afraid of a challenge, in an extraordinary case in New Zealand, Stuart on behalf of a client led a successful & hard fought compensation claim against the New Zealand government – this not only opened the way for other claims against the Government but precipitated significant changes to New Zealand compulsory compensation laws.
Moving forward to the early 1990's following the turmoil of a severe property recession, a plan was put in place to refocus Diamonds towards a personalised property advisory service with a renewed pledge for integrity, dependability, and quality.
As testimony to Stuart’s forthrightness, moral courage and fortitude, in 2009 as a result of refusing to falsify a valuation for the now deceased criminal Michael McGurk, Stuart’s career took a spectacular turn. McGurk’s threats were unable to force Stuart to issue what would have been a fraudulent report. McGurk endeavored to coerce Stuart using a variety of standover tactics including a physical attack resulting in Stuart’s hospitalisation. Fortuitously for Stuart, McGurk was soon to be murdered – obviously a case of ‘live & die by the sword’. Stuart battles with McGurk have become legendary, particularly in the valuation industry.
A book is being written about the saga and a television mini-series is in the offing. At the end of the day however, standing up for what right has earned Diamond's and Stuart personally an unrivaled reputation for integrity, honesty, steadfastness & incorruptibility.
